Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody
Right now, a lot of the buzz is around the new trim level, called the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody.
True to its name, this configuration features a 3.5-inch wider body and 20-inch Carbon Black forged wheels, as well as wider tires. It’s also set to come complete with a variety of race-improving features, like:
- Bilstein® 3-mode adaptive damping competition suspension
- Electric power steering
- Stiffer springs and larger sway bars
- Retuned shocks
- Brembo Brake System
Of course, we can’t forget about the powertrain that roars under the hood of this high-powered racing sedan. It’s expected to include a 6.2L HEMI® Hellcat V8 engine that generates 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Under the right conditions, it can take you from 0-60 MPH in as few as 3.6 seconds.
It’ll pair this engine with a TorqueFlite® 8-speed automatic transmission that delivers precision and efficiency. Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters can help you change gears on a dime in a limited manual mode without ever taking your hands off the wheel.
You can adjust your drive with the available SRT Drive Mode features, as well. These drive modes are: Street, Sport, Track, and Custom.
2020 Charger Technology
As the highly modern sedan that it is, the 2020 Dodge Charger is expected to come packed full of technology. For example, it’ll feature an available Uconnect® 4C infotainment system complete with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display.
This display will include Apple CarPlay® compatibility and Android Auto™ compatibility. These features let you plug in your phone and access some of your favorite apps via your touchscreen, including navigation, phone calling, voice-to-text messaging, and internet radio streaming.
We expect to see some track-ready tech, as well, including Race Cooldown. This keeps cooling the engine long after it’s shut off by running the intercooler pump and radiator fan.
It’ll feature favorite technologies like Launch Control and Launch Assist, as well. Launch Control manages tire slip while launching to achieve consistent straight-line acceleration. Meanwhile, Launch Assist uses wheel speed sensors to modify engine torque to prevent wheel hop at launch.
Dodge Charger Design Elements
Finally, let’s talk style. So far, we’ve seen that the 2020 Dodge Charger will have plenty of it to go around. For instance, it includes 12 different exterior colors for you to pick from, including new colors like:
- Sinamon Stick
It’ll also bring back old favorites like Triple Nickel, TorRed, F8 Green, and Octane Red.
On the inside, you can expect a Black base with 2-tone pairings with colors like Caramel, Demonic Red, Houndstooth, Sepia, and Ruby Red.
As always, the 2020 Charger will feature a 4-door body style with enough interior space for five total passengers, including the driver.
